Getting There
Hamburg is superbly connected by rail, air and road. From Berlin it's just 1.5 hours by direct ICE train. From the apartment, Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is 10 minutes by U4.
By train
Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is one of Germany's busiest stations with excellent connections:
- Berlin: 1.5 hours (frequent direct ICE trains)
- Cologne: 3.5 hours
- Amsterdam: 3.5 hours
- Copenhagen: 4.5 hours
- Frankfurt: 3.5 hours
- Munich: 5.5 hours
From Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, the apartment is about 20 minutes by U-Bahn (U4 line to HafenCity) or a pleasant 25-minute walk through the city centre.
By plane
Hamburg Airport (HAM) is 6km north of the city centre, about 30 minutes by S-Bahn (S1 line) from the airport to the city, then U-Bahn to HafenCity. Total journey: approximately 45 minutes. Major airlines flying to Hamburg include Lufthansa, British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair.
By car
Hamburg sits on the A1 and A7 motorways. HafenCity has paid parking in several car parks nearby: the AM.T parking garage on Am Lohsepark is the closest. Street parking is limited. We recommend using public transport within the city.
Public transport from the apartment
The U4 U-Bahn station (Überseequartier or HafenCity Universität) is within walking distance, connecting directly to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and the rest of the city.
